Make way for two new retro-inspired linen dresses!
The first is a different version (for myself) of the blue taffeta roses dress that I posted about earlier this spring. This time the fabric is a sunny yellow linen/rayon blend - with a crisp, lovely hand. It's trimmed in fabric roses of dusky pink and vibrant periwinkle blue.
For the second dress I actually used a vintage 70's pattern:
I really liked the way it turned out - and I am planning do to lots more versions of this pattern. For myself, I want to make a housedress in a bright mod calico.
You'll notice I did change the neckline just a bit.
This version in periwinkle blue irish linen, trimmed with natural linen.
(althougth it looks yellow next to the blue!)
I think this would look super cute with a pair of mary jane heels.
These dresses are so cute!
ReplyDeleteThe first one is absolutely gorgeous! I love the style and the colors used on the flowers on the neckline.
ReplyDeleteI love them both!!! I especially love the 70's one! It seems so versitale for nicer occasions and doing things around the house!
ReplyDeleteI love those! and when you said the second one was '70s, I nearly groaned...but then I saw it! Gosh, it looks so...modern! :) Great work.

Fantastic '70's interpretation and update - and I love the periwinkle with the natural linen! I think that the '70's patterns are very under-rated (but then I grew up in the '70's and I am probably a little biased about their charm)
ReplyDeleteYou have an award waiting on my blog!
ReplyDeleteBoth of the dresses are gorgeous. I wanted to thank you for following my blog, it really means a lot to know that people actually read what I write. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteHey, I was just on Etsy last night and looked at your dress! It's cute!
ReplyDeleteAw, those are GREAT!! I love the cream dress, but that blue house dress is absolutely adorable!!! You are SO amazing with coming up with stuff like that. I can hardly sew a dress let a lone a dress without a pattern!!
ReplyDeleteLove it, love it, love it!!! lol
I hope I can see them in person sometime! lol
Love you, Sarah
Hey, I just noticed it is so green out there!! Did y'all get some rain??

Those are beautiful! The first one reminds me of Anne's cream colored dress in Anne of Avonlea with the flowers along the neckline. But with a modern twist. Love it!!

(three spinsters)
The first one reminds me of the dress Anne Shirley wears in the second film to the fundraiser ball. :)
