Wedding Dress #3 - to keep or not to keep? (help!)

I have a dilemma. I need help. This third vintage wedding dress (would you say late forties or early fifties?) is completely lovely - and IT FITS ME. Pefectly. (believe me, it's rare to find a dress that really truly fits short-waisted me!) It's not too tight - very comfortable in fact. So - all this makes me reluctanct to put it up for sell on Etsy - but....on the other hand WHY should I keep it? I *want* it, but there isn't actually any good *reason* to hang on to the dress. IF I get married someday - this wouldn't be the dress I would wear. Yes its pretty, yes it's vintage. But it's not what I would choose.
So - your opinion. To keep or not to keep?

I adore this appliqued lace on the satin skirt!

The netting and shaped lace on the neckline are just so classy. And I love the little satin 'necklace' too.

I believe this length is called a 'chapel train', right?
At least - this is what I found when I googled it:

Sweep Train - the shortest train, just sweeps the floor
Chapel Train - the most popular train, extends 3 to 4-feet behind gown
Court Train - extends 1 foot
Semi-Cathedral Train - stretches 4 to 6 feet
Cathedral Train - extends past 6 to 8 feet
Royal Cathedral Train - extends 10 feet or more
Watteau Train - this train starts at the shoulder blades and reaches the hemline of the gown (similar to a cape).

So - what do you think? Keep? Or not?

Well, if you don't think you're ever going to wear it, I'd say sell it! If you think you could get some use out of it then...
It's a hard decision!

P.S.: It does look so lovely on you! (Hope I'm not swayig your decision with that.=)

welllll... if you're positive you wouldn't want to wear it for your wedding, I would say sell it. Sorry :( Where would you wear it otherwise?

Although it's absolutely gorgeous, it's probably the most practical to sell it than to have it hanging in your closet.

Of course, that's what I would do. If you REALLY like it, keep it. :)

Ummm, obviously KEEP IT! :) No, whatever you think...don't let my opinion influence you (KEEP IT!!!)...it's just whatever you think is best (YOU MUST KEEP IT!), haha...

I would say keep it, but I think you should think about where/when you could possibly where such a dress (whether it be for a ball/reenactment/photoshoot/etc). If you don't think you'd ever use it for any of those things, it would probably be best to sell it to someone who could use it. :-)
You look so lovely in that dress, though. hehe! :)

Well, you look really good in the dress... and the way you did your hair definitely suits you! Maybe you could keep it (if you really like it) and modify it to fit your tastes?? you are really good at that sort of thing.. Or just plan on making some movies during that time period and havea wedding in each one!! ;) lol But I have to agree with Erika.. someone else could use it too!!!
Ok, I am not much help!! Sorry.. it is really pretty!!!

Love you! Sarah

You look very beautiful in it, but as you said that you wouldn't want it for your wedding, why would you keep it from some short-waisted bride-to-be.

Ooh, very pretty.

The only reason I would say "keep it" is if you could repurpose it as a dress from an adaptation to save on work. I don't know if you'd be interested in that but it's a thought. :)

BTW, I have been enjoying this costuming week IMMENSELY! It's really inspiring and now I wish I had the talent to do that kind of thing. Oh well...maybe there will be another one next year? :) *is hopeful*
